About the Trainer

Beth Moody has been training dogs for many years, starting back when she first began rescuing boxers, pit bulls and other “bully breeds” back in 1999.
Her interest soon focused on deaf dogs. Many deaf dogs would come to the rescue group with little or no understanding of their own native language. Many of these dogs became loving family pets after the work that Mrs. Moody had done with them.
Due to a neurological condition Mrs. Moody needed a service dog. She chose a deaf boxer puppy to train for this job. By the time Echo was 2 years old he was accompanying her everywhere and astonishing everyone he met. Echo knows over 40 signs.
Echo is only one of the many dogs Mrs. Moody has trained. Many dogs and their owners can credit her for helping them to develop the wonderful relationships they have with their pets.
and about SILENT TRAINING
Echoes of Ireland (deaf service dog)
Silent training is a new and innovative training technique developed by a long time trainer of deaf dogs. In Silent Training you will be given expert instruction on communicating with your canine companion. We use body language, our own as well as theirs, to give direction and praise.
Why this works: Silent Training is so successful because it utilizes a dogs own natural communication process to teach them instead of trying to relate to them on a level that they do not understand. Owners learn these methods quickly and you will soon discover a brand new relationship developing with your dog, based on trust and understanding.
In order to make the most of your training experience we ask that you come to class prepared. We have provided a list of items to bring with you to your lessons with us.
1.Treat bag-something to hook around your waist or to your belt
2. Super yummy treats-something your dog does not normally get at home. Good treats for lessons are liver, chicken breast, string cheese.
3. A 4 or 6 foot leash-leather is always nice because it is very comfortable to hold on to.
4. Dog blanket or towel-we use this to teach the dogs to target the item.
5.Favorite toy-for having fun with the dog to keep the mood light and happy in class.
6.Gentle leader or Halti type headcollar.-we use these tools in the beginning but quickly begin to wean away from them.
7. A good attitude and open mind. You will be amazed at the response you will get from your dog when he and you finally have a true understanding of each other.
